What makes it unique
The Langtang valley is one of the trekking regions closest to Kathmandu, and yet one of the most spectacular. Over 10 days the route leads up to Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m), with views of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), in a valley that was badly hit by the 2015 earthquake and has since been largely rebuilt.
After a seven- to eight-hour drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the trail follows the Langtang river through bamboo and oak forest and then high pastures up to the village of Langtang (3,430 m). Kyanjin Gompa, with its monastery and local cheese factory, is the last stop before the climb up Kyanjin Ri.
What makes it unique
Three hours from Kathmandu, another planet. The Langtang valley was badly hit by the 2015 earthquake — walking here today is also a way of contributing to the rebuilding of a region and its people. Yaks graze the high pastures, Kyanjin cheese is famous throughout Nepal, and the views of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m) are among the finest in the country.
